Mills, Crushers, Sample dividers & XRF Press & Die sets The sample should be of a size and nature to be representative of the sample mass of interest. For fine-grained sample this may be only 400-500 g, but for coarse grained sample is not unusual to begin with a sample of 10 – 15 kg. The entire sample is crushed in a jaw crusher that can be readily cleaned. Crushing can be accomplished with a crusher as the Rocklabs Boyd Crusher with two moving jaws. Size reduction in one pass: 25 times Max. feed size: 60 mm Final fineness : 2 mm
The crushed sample is split as many times as necessary to obtain an aliquot of approximately 100 ml.
This Rotating Sample Divider has been designed to be used alongside the Boyd Crusher for ‘one step’ Crushing and Splitting. (Combo)
This aliquot is pulverized to a powder, at least fine enough to pass through a 200 mesh screen (74µm opening size). Theoretically the finer the better, but excessive pulverizing can cause serious contamination.
Max. feed size: 10 – 5 mm (depending of the material) Final fineness : < 75 µm (depending of the material) Bench Top Ring Mill - Standard Ring Mill - Continuous Ring Mill
During pulverizing there are three major sources of contamination: · the analyst’s hand (1) · the previously pulverized sample (2) · the crushing container (3)
This source cannot be eliminated, but appropriate choice of grinding containers can reduce the contamination to elements that are not of great interest. For example: a tungsten carbide head would not be used when W and Co are important to the analyst. Rocklabs provides data on contamination to be expected from the various grinding containers.
Mechanised and Automated system
A Automated/Mechanised System is a combination of two or more machines and devices to enable the process of sample prepartion to be carried out without any operator action.
MECHANISED SAMPLE PREPARATION SYSTEMS... AUTOMATED SAMPLE PREPARATION SYSTEMS... Rocklabs Automated/Mechanised Systems are custom designed and built to meet the requirements of each laboratory.
