LaMotte Water Quality Analysis Testing Products Methods

Visual Colorimetric

A sample is treated with reagent(s) to produce a color reaction. The sample color is then compared against color standards representing known concentrations of the chemical being tested.

Electronic

Electronic methods generally use a special electrode for measuring a specific test factor. An electrode is immersed into a sample and an amplified current or voltage is produced and translated into a digital readout.

Electronic colorimeters measure the amount of light which travels through the reacted sample, and convert the measurement to a reading as ppm, absorbance or %T. In addition to colorimeters, LaMotte manufactures instruments to test pH, TDS/conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity.

Titrimetric

In a titrimetric method, titrating solution (or titrant) is added to a treated sample until a color change occurs. The volume of titrant required to reach this endpoint reaction is proportional to the concentration of the chemical being used.

2020we & 2020wi Portable Turbidity Meters

Industry-leading precision, sensitivity, and dependability in one of the most innovative handheld turbidity meters available on the market! NOW WATERPROOF!

The multi-detector optical configuration assures long term stability and minimizes stray light and color interferences. All turbidity readings are determined by the process of signal averaging over a 5 second period. This minimizes fluctuations in readings attributed to large particles and results in rapid, highly repeatable measurements. Ideally suited for both low-level drinking water applications as well as monitoring high turbidity in the field.

SMART3 Colorimeter

The user-friendly SMART3 Colorimeter is the ideal direct reading colorimeter for complete on-site water analyses

The compact SMART3 Colorimeter is ideal for water analysis in the field or in the lab. Easy to use software allows the analyst to choose a test factor from over 75 pre-programmed calibrations for LaMotte reagent systems. The reacted sample is always scanned at the optimum wavelength which is automatically selected from the multiple LED optical system and the test result is presented on the large, backlit display. The colorimeter test results is displayed directly in units of concentration, as well as Absorbance and %T, in one of seven languages. The analyst also has the option of entering up to 25 additional calibrations for analysis with custom reagent systems. Test factors can be arranged in any of three sequences that can be modified at any time to meet changing testing needs. The data logger holds up to 500 time and date stamped datapoints. A USB connection allows an interface of the colorimeter with a computer for real-time data acquisition and data transfer. Themeter logs up to 500 data points.
